If you look at the chart below, you might wonder why anyone cares where people are looking for Real Estate… obviously they are going to their Google Bar! As a Blogger, I rarely look to see what Yahoo is looking at on my site… but that’s about to change!
Now that Zillow and Yahoo! are buddies, Yahoo can claim 10% market share when it comes to eyeballs looking for real estate! Yowzah! Google may be “The Man!” when it comes to information (they are that top blue bar with 86% share of folks using a Browser), but if someone is specifically looking for real estate listings, they are switching to Yahoo!, and that’s bad news for Realtor.com
Yahoo! Real Estate was the most popular real estate website in August, according to data collected by Web metrics firm Experian Hitwise, displacing Realtor.com from the No. 1 position for the first time in the list’s three-year history.
That’s pretty significant. Realtor.com announced this week that it’s “sister” MOVE is acquiring ListHub for syndication purposes… which syndicates listings to Yahoo! Real Estate.
Bottomline? Marketing Real Estate Listings is getting a little more interesting – what works today, might have to be tweaked in order to make it work tomorrow!
