“Gee Mom! Look what I did to Sissy!” Wow – sometimes we have marks all over our credit report too.
If you have Liens or Judgements showing on your report, with inaccurate information, you should most definitely dispute those items. The WAY you dispute them can be important in actually getting them removed.
As always, we recommend that you write the credit agencies (all three) and send the letters certified, receipt requested. The letter should reference the DOCKET NUMBER that is reflected on your credit report. Do not list additional information, like county or state. Do not use the DOCKET NUMBER of your case from your documentation (sometimes the numbers on your paperwork are a couple of digits longer). Be certain that you put the docket number EXACTLY like they have it on the report.
Wait 45 days, and you should have the updated information from all three bureaus in your mailbox!
